SCHOELLER PLAST - Our History
17th century
Origin of the
Schoeller industrial family in Düren/Germany. In 1640 Philipp Dietrich Schoeller
founded an ironworks. Subsequently the family ventured into the paper, sugar and
textile industries and banking (Leopold Schoeller: co-founder Deutsche Bank, Alexander
von Schoeller: founder of Schoeller Bank). The activities spread throughout Germany,
Austria, Switzerland and Silesia. Different parts of the businesses wer handled
by the various branches of the family.
1958
Development and production
of the first PLASTic bottle crate by Alexander Schoeller.
1966
Founding of Schoeller International as a design and development center and establishment
of the international network of licensees. Sale of the German production facility
1982 - 1992
Entrance of Martin Alexander Schoeller and Christoph
Alexander Schoeller into the company. Buildup of production sites in several European
countries and overseas. The beginning of SCHOELLER PLAST Industries. Introduction
and establishment of returnable transport packaging systems to substitute corrugated
containers : IFCO (International Food Container Organisation) and MTS (Multi Trip
Systems). Complete solutions in the field of collapsible transport containers
combined with logistic services.
2001
Schoeller Group forms
a joint holding with several well known European industrial families to bundle
and develop their joint investments into software, media and communication technologies
(Syntek Capital). Schoeller Logistics Industries (SLI) organises the restructuring
of IFCO Systems in order to exchange IFCOs debt for equity. The old shareholders
were significantly diluted but in return received warrants and powerful voting
rights. SLI formed a Joint Venture with Frohwitter Lawfirm (Frohwitter Intellectual
Property Agency) who support owners of Intellectual Property in developing related
business opportunities.
